10 Ways to Celebrate Earth Day in the Office!

Earth Day falls on a Monday this year, April 22nd, 2019, which also happens to be Easter Monday! Earth Day can (and should) be celebrated in a variety of ways, but it often seems harder to do when the day falls during the work week, when you’re in an office of artificial lighting printing out stacks and stacks of paper and commuting with polluting transportation.

10 WAYS TO CELEBRATE

Don’t be deterred, you can still make an extra effort to give back to the environment while you’re at work! To get your office in the spirit of nature, here are ways to celebrate Earth Day in the workplace:

• Make your own Earth Hour
• Bike to work
• Pack lunch from home
• Company park clean up
• Plant a tree
• Donate to a nature conservancy
• Sponsor a WWF animal
• Start a recycling program
• Install renewable energy
• Add more plants to the office

If you aren’t familiar with Earth Hour, it is a separate hour during the year when everyone is encouraged to use zero electricity, shutting off all lights and electronic devices and producing the smallest carbon footprint as possible. The hour typically takes place a month before Earth Day, as designated by the World Wide Fund for Nature, but can be observed whenever you feel like conserving energy!
